Lake Agassiz Water Authority

CARRINGTON, (January 23, 2017) – The Lake Agassiz Water Authority (LAWA) board of directors voted to add two Associate Members to the board. Because of their affiliation with the Red River Valley Water Supply Project, the City of Wahpeton and Stutsman Rural Water District will be present at the table during meetings of the board of directors.

Currently, the Associate Members are non-voting members on the board.  During the 2017 legislative session, LAWA is pursuing changes to the LAWA Century Code to allow for the addition of voting members to the board.

LAWA was created by the ND Legislature in 2003 and serves to represent the users in the Red River Valley Water Supply Project, designed to bring water from the Missouri River to central and eastern North Dakota. The board consists of five city members, five rural water system members, and two associate members.
